WALT DISNEY WORLD 50th ANNIVERSARY

DISNEY KITE TAILS and how it all began for us in New Zealand.

We have made many custom kites in the past and Disney had found out about us and contacted us to do some work for them.

This project all started with discussions back in late 2019 about what could be achieved, what kites we could make and where they could be flown.

Once we had heard this idea for Kite Tails we were all super excited.

We shared footage to Disney with all the information of what we have done on the water before.  Mainly of Blake Pelton as he is a master when it comes to water displays.

This project came with its challengers for everyone involved.  One being the holdups we all faced in 2020 when Covid 19 hit.  Lockdowns started to happen and everything got put on hold for a while.

We ended up making 5 different designs – Adult Simba, Young Simba, Zazu, Pumbaa and Timon all from the Lion King and Baloo and  King Louie from the Jungle Book.

Extra panels were needed to make sure the kites looked like the way the design team at Disney wanted them to look.  As well as having extra panels they also have a lot of scrolls appliqued all over each design.

This really does give each of these show kites the real WOW factor.

These amazing designs have at least 3 times the amount of  panels added than what we would normally have in our Show kites.

All this extra hard work comes at a great cost and the time really got pushed to the limit, but everyone managed to pull it off and the kites got to Florida for the first show in time ????

A massive thank you to everyone in Ashburton New Zealand that worked super hard to get these Show Kites started.

We also have to give a special shout out to a very close friend of ours that worked tirelessly behind the scenes, Blake Pelton, without the work that he put in then this would not of been possible.

Thank you Blake.

Videos and photos do not give this display show the justice it deserves.

The team flying these show kites are doing so in a very small area.

Show kites have never been flown like they are in this Show before.

These show kites that are be flown are massive.

The skill shown by the kite flyers and jet ski drivers who are putting this show on are super astronomical.

Our hat goes off to everyone who helped to make this show possible.

Make sure you get yourself to a show at Disneyland in Florida if you can,  it will definitely be worth it ????
